  • When:  June 8, 2019 – doors open a 6:30 pm.
  • Where:  The Vic Theater, 3145 N Sheffield Ave, Chicago, IL 60657.

Why this is fun: For the past 40 years, The Specials have been bringing the sweet, frenetic pace of ska reggae to the masses. When it comes to ska here in America, many listeners credit the English Beat as the band that brought the once-nitch genre to the forefront. While the English Beat certainly gave it marketing power in the States, it was The Specials that really paved the way for many ska acts to make it in the big time.

Now, 40 years after their formation, The Specials are still going strong, keeping the spirit of this great genre alive and well for a new generation of listeners to enjoy. To celebrate their 40th anniversary, the band will set off of a world tour in late March, as sort of a toast to the years they have been belting out some of the best tunes in the genre.
