Chicago’s festival season is in high gear! Check out these great events this weekend.  Enjoy – the weather is going to be great and you deserve it!

1. Chicago Margarita Festival

  • When:   July 27 – 28, 2019 Sat 10:00 am–10:00 pm; Sun 10:00 am–7:00 pm. See website for more details
  • Where:  Navy Pier, 600 E Grand Ave, Chicago IL.

Why this is fun:  For one weekend each summer, Navy Pier’s margarita options extend well beyond what’s offered at Jimmy Buffett’s joint. A selection of Chicago bars and restaurants mix their finest tequila-filled concoctions during three sessions of tipsy revelry along Lake Michigan. Our advice: Ride the Ferris wheel before you pour a bunch of sugary drinks into your body.

2. Earth, Wind & Fire

  • When:  July 27-28, 2019 doors open at 8:00 pm.
  • Where:  Chicago Theater, 175 N State St, Chicago IL 60601.

Why this is fun:  Talk about hometown heroes — this is possibly the definitive Chicago soul group, with era-defining hits that fused funk, disco, and R&B. (If you don’t ritually blast “September” every September 21, you’re not living your best life.) Founder Maurice White died in 2016, but the surviving members, including his brother Verdine, are holding it down.

3. Taste of Lincoln Avenue

  • When:  July 27-28, 2019 – Fri & Sat: 10:00 am – 4:00 pm, Sun: 12:00 – 4:00 pm.
  • Where:  N. Lincoln Avenue between Fullerton & Wrightwood, Chicago IL 60613.

Why this is fun: In a city of street fests, one would be hard-pressed to find one more iconic than Taste of Lincoln Avenue.

It’s legendary for many reasons. Celebrating its 36th year in 2019, it’s easily one of the city’s oldest summer happenings Another is its sheer size. The fest sprawls over several city blocks in the heart of the vibrant Lincoln Park/DePaul neighborhood.

And like a fine wine it has aged well (and expanded) over the years. It offers lots of fun things beyond its 100 food, arts/crafts and other vendors.

The bottom-line? When it comes enjoying summer in the Windy City, Taste of Lincoln Avenue should be at the top of everyone’s list!

4. The Mustache Crawl

  • When:  July 27, 2019 – from 10:00 am to 8:00 pm.
  • Where:  3524 North Clark St, Chicago IL 60657

Why this is fun:  One day – thousands of mustaches! Crawl from bar to bar with other fun-loving people while sporting a sweet ‘stache at Chicago’s favorite bar crawl!

Whether you’re wearing a fake ‘stache or plan on growing your own, you’re not going to want to miss The Mustache Crawl in Chicago! You do NOT need to sport a mustache to participate…but everything is more fun when you have one!

5. Wicker Park Fest

  • When:  July 26-28, 2019 – Friday 5:00 pm – 10:00 pm, Saturday& Sunday Noon – 10:00 pm.
  • Where:  On Milwaukee Ave from North Ave to Ashland Ave, , Chicago IL 60647.

Why this is fun:  Wicker Park may be overrun with chain restaurants, boutiques and shoe stores, but the neighborhood still clears out Milwaukee Avenue for a street celebration each summer. The main attraction of the annual fest is the music lineup, which features sets from neo-soul outfit Durand Jones & The Indications, West Coast rockers Wavves, cinematic folk band Murder By Death and New Jersey punks Screaming Females. You’ll also find plenty of delicious food, sales at local shops, daily fashion shows and twentysomethings watching the festivities from precarious perches on rooftops, balconies and fire escapes.
